The Bnei Shul tonight will be joining the Beit Midrash Minyan for Mincha, Kabbalat Shabbat, and Ma'ariv. We are joined by Rav Yehoshua Grunstein who will address us after the Tefillah. Also be sure to have a look below for details of the Oneg Shabbat tonight, also with Rav Grunstein.

Davidi Perl in Public Office
 

Bnei Akiva Melbourne would like to extend our Mazal Tov to Davidi Perl, who has recently been elected head of the Gush Etzion regional authority.

Davidi and Shlomit Perl finished their stint as Bnei Akiva Shlichim in Melbourne just over 4 years ago, and have since lived in Alon Shvut, very close to Yeshivat Har Etzion where many of our MTA boys learn.

We all fondly remember the wonderful time they spent here and how much they contributed to Bnei Akiva Melbourne, and we wish Davidi much Hatzlacha with his new role!

New Bnei Akiva Shlicha!

It is with great please that we announce the addition of Efrat Metzler to our Bnei Team for 2012!

Efrat has graciously agreed to take up the role of temporary Shlicha until a more long-term family is found from Israel.

Efrat lives and breathes Bnei

She grew up attending Bnei Akiva in Israel, was a Madricha, and then a Komunarit (the equivalent of Merakezet) during her Sherut Leumi national service. After that, she was sent on Shlichut as a Sherut Girl in Stockholm, Sweden, where she was also heavily involved in Bnei. There, she met her future husband, and he subsequently made Aliyah. They were married in Israel, and went on another Shlichut back to Sweden where they worked for 3 years in Bnei Akiva in Scandinavia. They returned to Israel and had four lovely children. Her husband David Metzler is now a shaliach for UIA here in Melbourne, and Efrat has generously agreed to join us in Bnei and put her considerable passion and experience at our disposal.

Efrat is also a wonderfully nice person, and is really looking forward to working with us to make Bnei 2012 a terrific year!

Shnat

This past Monday we farewelled our Shnat group of 2012. They have arrived safely in Israel, are well underway with AZYC Seminar and will soon be starting their programs. We wish them much Hatzlacha and an incredible and inspiring year!

JNF Green Sunday

& Flash Mob

 

This coming Sunday 5^th February is JNF’s annual Green Sunday phonethon appeal. Bnei has always supported this in the past; let’s make sure we do again this year!  It's running between 8am and 8pm at Beth Weizman Community Centre. Get some friends together and come down for an hour or two to help out. All money goes towards planting trees for Tu B'shvat, which falls 3 days after the campaign.

Those who come to the appeal can also come back at 8pm and join in the first lesson for a HUGE flashmob dance! It’s going to be massive. Have a look on facebook for more info:

Just over 4 years ago, Davidi and Shlomit Perl finished their stint as Bnei Akiva Shlichim in Melbourne. We all fondly remember the wonderful time they spent here and how much they contributed to Bnei Akiva Melbourne.

Now, after a snap election was called for, Davidi has decided to run for the office of Head of the Gush Etzion Local Council.

Davidi's election team is asking the Melbourne community to which he and his family contributed so much, to give back and help him raise the money that is needed to launch a successful campaign.

It was my sincere pleasure to be a part of Bnei Akiva last year. I would like to thank you all for attending all our programs, for supporting Bnei, for being excited about Bnei and for making Bnei an incredible youth movement.

We are proud of our successes last year and for the way we managed (we hope) to enhance what the movement is and what it does. All the credit goes to our madrichim, shlichim and support staff for creating and implementing this growth.

From strength to strength I wish the madrichim of 2012 all the success in the world.

2012 is shaping up to be an incredible year in Bnei. Planning is well underway and interviews, seminars, and training are kicking into 1st gear.
